3 Reasons Your Adult Add Women Is Broken (And How To Repair It)

Adult Women With ADD Face Daily Challenges

Adult women suffering from ADHD have daily challenges. They often get misdiagnosed and ignored because many doctors view ADD as a disorder that affects males and boys. Many ADD symptoms in females change in response to hormones. They become more prominent in puberty, and decrease as estrogen levels decrease during PMS or perimenopausal.

Signs and symptoms

Women who suffer from adult ADD are impatient, easily frustrated and indecisive. They often jump into projects without considering the implications things like careers and relationships. Many of them have a high level of rejection sensitivity which makes it difficult for them to cope with the real or perceived rejection. Women with ADD are more likely to engage in sexually risky behaviors than women who do not have ADD for example, such as early sexual contact, casual sex multiple partners and unprotected births. Depression often coexists with or results from ADD and needs to be treated in conjunction with it. ADD symptoms are more evident in girls during puberty, PMS, and as estrogen levels decrease during perimenopausal and menopause.

Diagnosis

While the ADD symptoms of women are similar to those seen in men, doctors may be unable to diagnose the condition due to incorrect assumptions that ADD is more prevalent in boys.  add adult women  with ADD are more emotional than other women, especially when they go through puberty, experience PMS, or enter menopausal or perimenopausal phases. They can be impulsive, jumping into situations without planning. Depression can be a result of or is a result of the disorder.
